Description
Acmena 'Cheeky Merlot' is a naturally compact Australian native lilly pilly bred for its dense growth, rich burgundy new foliage and exceptional versatility in modern gardens. Requiring minimal pruning to maintain its tidy form, it is ideal for low hedging, borders, feature planting, containers and mass landscaping. Hardy, psyllid resistant and easy to grow, 'Cheeky Merlot' brings year-round colour and structure to both residential and commercial landscapes.
Flowers
Small fluffy white flowers appear during late spring to early summer, attracting bees and other beneficial pollinators.
Foliage
Glossy evergreen foliage is complemented by vibrant deep burgundy to merlot-coloured new growth, creating outstanding contrast throughout the year.
Fruit
Small edible berries develop after flowering, ripening from white to pale pink and eventually soft purple. The fruit is attractive to native birds.

A naturally dense, compact evergreen shrub.

Maintenance
A very low-maintenance variety requiring only occasional pruning to maintain its natural shape. Feed with a quality slow-release fertiliser during spring and water regularly while establishing.
Notes
'Cheeky Merlot' has been bred for its naturally compact habit, meaning far less pruning is required than traditional lilly pillies. It is also highly resistant to psyllid damage, making it an excellent choice for low-maintenance gardens.

Where are our plants Grown and how do we grow them
- Plants are grown locally on the Sunshine Coast
- All outdoor plants are sun hardened and ready to grow
- Indoor plants are grown under 50% Shade and will transfer perfectly to indoor use
- Orchids are also grown under 50% Shade and are best brought indoors during flowering for show then returned back into a shaded area until the following flowering time
- we are Qualified horticulturists, greenkeeper as well as Qualified landscape Construction with over 35 years experience in the industry. We use Quality products and materials to grow all our plants.

How to Look after your plants like we do
- When using any Garden Care products or Fertilisers we always recommend reading the label before use
- We recommend using Earthlife crushed rock mineral on all plants when planting in the ground or in Pots.
- When planting in Pots in Our garden centre we use Rocky Point potting mixes to plant all our plants
- If planting in the ground we also recommend that you use Rocky Point garden soil around your plants at the time of planting
