Why It’s a Great Idea to Plant in Winter
Grevillea lanigera ‘Winter Wonder’ is a compact, hardy native shrub admired for its prolific winter flowering and soft, fine foliage. This low-maintenance evergreen provides year-round greenery and bursts of vibrant colour during the cooler months, making it perfect for native gardens, borders, and wildlife-friendly landscapes.
Produces masses of cream and deep pink spider-like flowers from autumn through spring, with the heaviest display during winter. The nectar-rich blooms are highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and nectar-feeding birds, bringing life and colour to the garden when most plants are dormant.
Features soft, fine-textured, grey-green foliage with a slightly woolly appearance, creating an appealing contrast to the colourful flowers.
Occasionally develops small, woody seed capsules typical of Grevilleas but not considered ornamental.
A compact, spreading shrub typically growing to around 60 cm high and 1.5 m wide, making it ideal for low borders and groundcover planting.
