Why Native Plants Are Great Plants to Grow in Your Garden
Lomandra 'Cracker Jack' is a tough, compact Australian native grass prized for its fine blue-green foliage and naturally tidy, rounded habit. This hardy evergreen plant provides year-round structure and texture, making it an excellent choice for modern landscapes, mass plantings, borders, commercial landscapes and low-maintenance gardens. Exceptionally drought tolerant once established, it also copes well with coastal conditions, heat and frost, making it suitable for gardens throughout South East Queensland and much of Australia.
Small cream to yellow fragrant flower spikes appear during spring and early summer, rising just above the foliage. While not particularly showy, they provide seasonal interest and attract beneficial insects.
Fine blue-green strap-like foliage forms a dense, compact mound that remains attractive throughout the year with minimal maintenance.
Produces small seed capsules following flowering, although these are generally insignificant in ornamental plantings.
Compact clumping evergreen grass.
Height: Approximately 50–70cm
Width: Approximately 60–80cm
Very low maintenance. Remove old flower stems as required and trim foliage every few years if rejuvenation is needed. Apply a slow-release fertiliser during spring for best performance.
Lomandra 'Cracker Jack' is one of Australia's most reliable landscape grasses. Its compact habit, attractive foliage colour and excellent drought tolerance make it ideal for both residential and commercial projects where year-round presentation and minimal maintenance are important.
