Why It’s a Great Idea to Plant in Winter
Syzygium australe ‘Select’ is a hardy, fast-growing Australian native shrub selected for its dense foliage, uniform growth, and excellent screening qualities. With its glossy green leaves and attractive new growth, it’s ideal for creating formal hedges, privacy screens, and boundary plantings in both residential and commercial landscapes.
Produces clusters of creamy-white fluffy flowers during summer, followed by small pink berries that provide food for birds and add ornamental appeal.
Features glossy mid to dark green foliage with a flush of vibrant bronze-orange new growth, giving year-round colour and texture. The dense canopy makes it perfect for creating privacy and noise barriers.
After flowering, small pinkish-red berries appear, attracting native birds and enhancing garden biodiversity.
A naturally compact, upright shrub typically growing to around 3–5 m high and 2–3 m wide, but can be kept smaller with regular pruning to suit formal hedging.
